COMMEMORATING BIODIVERSITY DAY 2021

Commemorating Biodiversity Day 2021 and visiting Jakarta Bay which is still full of garbage piles, did you have time to think about the fate of these birds in the future?

From monitoring of several bird species such as Javan pond heron (Ardeola speciosa), some of these individual birds are foraging for live fish in the river (photos 1 & 2)

And there are also some birds that scavenge trash on the riverbank and get human waste, such as in Photo 3, which shows a one individual eating chicken intestines. and sadly there is a young Javan pond heron who took the wrong plastic which he left a fish (photo 4).

Jakarta Bay itself is the estuary of 13 rivers that cross the city of Jakarta. The Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) Research Center for Oceanography said 8.32 tons of garbage enters Jakarta Bay every day ... wow.

With the theme "We're part of the solution" in the commemoration of Biodiversity Day 2021, will we be able to reduce waste in Jakarta Bay by reducing the use of plastic waste and preventing waste from being thrown into the river?

I think you have to, because birds are a part of our lives and "They need us"
